Pavlina was one of the first photo models I hired as a photographer, back when I started photography seriously again in my 40s. I often hosted her and, over many years, we became friends. She was kind to contact me when she visited Copenhagen even after I stopped hiring photo models. During one visit, I showed her the work I was doing on the Calvin project. She had assumed, as many might, that when I said I had started drawing, that I would be drawing the human figure.

On a later visit, she convinced me to give figure studies a try. She was very kind both to pose for me and in her comments regarding my (to my eyes) dubious results, and this helped convince me to sign up for the Croquis class at TegneSkoleKBH a year later.

When I started sharing some results with her, she agreed to visit me again so that I could continue drawing her. Now I hope to continue drawing her for years to come.
