My 2017 Trip to Fuerteventura

8 Days with Faith and 3 Days with Shasta Wonder

As I written elsewhere, I learned from Naya that models sometimes travel with photographers, thus bringing beauty to beauty and shooting the two together.

This seemed too good to be true at first, but I learned that models like this idea too.

As I was collaborating with Faith and told her of this idea, she immediately had ideas for where she wanted me to take her. At that time, I was an easy target for her enthusiasm. She was fascinated with sand dunes and camels and wanted to go to Oman (Spoiler alert: we did go to Oman as well later the same year). We compromised with the less risky (for me) Fuerteventura, which had dunes and might even offer a camel or two.

As we were planning the trip, Faith asked if we could find a dark skinned model to shoot with. I thought of Shasta Wonder, whom I had shot with once before. To be honest, I didn’t really expect her to be able to join us, but it turned out that she was in Europe that month, so she was able to join us for 3 days.

I didn’t write in my journal during that trip, as I was too busy with Faith and Shasta for most of the time.

I won’t show all the pictures, as I do for most of my trip pages. I’ll just include a few that remind me of the day. Both Faith and Shasta Wonder preferred to pose nude for nearly the entire trip, so I don’t have many pictures of them with clothing.

We actually got “in trouble” in the first location we stayed. The small fishing village inhabitants were scandalized by the nudity (admittedly, Faith goes out of her way to be provocative and even I often felt uncomfortable). Eventually, a friend of the owner (who was travelling) came by to warn us that there were people in the town who would call the police if they saw us again. She was very friendly herself, though, and just suggested that we find a good beach, which we did.

Later, after Shasta had left, Faith and I chartered a small sail boat to take us to a secluded part of another beach. Faith was nervous about getting sea sick, so I suggested she could take some appropriate pills, which she did. The water, as it happened, was very calm, so the pills were unnecessary. Unfortunately, the pills had the side effect of making Faith extremely drowsy, so she could barely keep awake for much of the day.
