Koksy was the first traveling photo model that I hired for figure modeling. It was also her first time posing for the pencil rather than the camera. I think we were both happily impressed with the experience.
As a photo model, Koksy was very comfortable with posing nude. She has a playful personality and, by our third session together, took pleasure in finding poses that would challenge my limited skills! She also posted some of my sketches on her Instagram and said that she immediately started receiving requests to sit for other artists.
She also offered to do a photo session together in exchange for me drawing her boyfriend. My first “professional” work as an artist!

Preparation sketches from photo references
When I work with professional photo models, I like to prepare in advance by sketching from photos in their portfolio. Since I know I’ll only have a limited time to work with them, this helps me to familiarize myself with their proportions.
Plus, I can do analysis by comparing my sketch to the photo reference, which helps me see (and, hopefully, eventually correct) my most common mistakes.
