In our next to last class, our instructor asked us to bring something different to draw with. I brought two old sets of color pastels that I had purchased in the 90s and almost never used since.
Upon arrival, she revealed that it was “Go Crazy Day”, and we should forget all the rules we had been learning and just have fun. She admitted later that she had been worried about how I would react to this, because she could see that I’m such a perfectionist.
To her surprise, I had no problem getting into the spirit of things. As far as I’m concerned, I’m already perfect at failing to follow the rules, so I just had fun.
To my surprise, the model, my instructor, and several fellow classmates expressed appreciation for the results!
