When I first started working with professional models, I felt quite intimidated.

I couldn’t help feeling aware of all the photographers they must have worked with who must know so many things I didn’t. I’m glad I did not let my fears stop me. The reality is that working with a professional model is so much easier than working with a friend.

Professional models, in my experience, are intelligent and thoughtful about making art. With very few exceptions, they put me at ease and truly helped me learn the craft of making interesting pictures.

The reality was that working with professional models was more often like play than work, and once I learned how to do that, working with every day people became more of a joy as well.
