Taiwan
When I first started to visit Malaysia on business, I decided to take advantage of my proximity to visit other countries in the area. Kristina, a colleague at the time, recommended visiting Taipei and the rest of Taiwan, having lived there and loved it for a few years.
As my flight lifted from Copenhagen, I realized that I had forgotten my international driver’s license.
“Ah, that won’t be a problem,” I thought. “No one has ever asked to see it before. I don’t know why I bothered getting it.”
Well, it turns out that it was a problem!
I wasn’t able to rent the car I had booked when I arrived in Taipei, which limited my ability to follow my solo itinerary. After a long walk in the airport, some time sitting alone to calm myself, I went back to the information desk that had given me, very politely, the bad news, and got their help to arrange a train to get close to my first destination.
After the long train trip, I took a 1 hour taxi ride to the hotel I had booked.
Luckily, there was a beautiful sight for pictures within walking distance. There wasn’t much opportunity to take pictures of the locals, but I got a few that I share here.
