Anfisa from Ukraine

Anfisa was not actually a member of couchsurfers.com. She was a friend of a friend who knew that I hosted people and asked if she could stay with me. I think it is appropriate to have her in this section, however, as my experience with her was quite similar to many of the couch surfers I hosted.

I met her at the airport. I didn’t know exactly what she looked like, so I held up a sign with her name on it.

As it happens, her name resembles a slang word in Danish for female genitalia, so I got a lot of amused looks as I waited for her.

We ended up hanging out together, which wasn’t always the case when I hosted people. I took her to Sweden and we went for a hike together. Obviously, she agreed to my taking portraits and we had many interesting conversations as well.
